Purchase: I have a very wide 2 yr old Appaloosa colt, that is very wide, and was having problems finding a saddle that would fit her. One of my good friends, who just won Reserve Champion at the World Show, suggested that I get a Blue Ribbon work saddle for her because they were super comfortable and would fit anything. I rode in her saddle, and decided to look for one. Used Blue Ribbons are very hard to come by because no one wants to get rid of them, and so I couldn't find one. But for Christmas, my mom had called the company in Arizona and had them custom make me one. On the website, the saddle sells for $2350.
Likes: This saddle is the most comfortable saddle I have ever ridden in. I can ride for hours and hours without getting sore. Also the way it is made, it puts your body in the correct alignment, so you always look good when show. It has a suede seat, so that you don't slip around. I also like the wide stirrups. It has beautiful basket weave hand tooling. I just love it.
Dislikes: The only thing I don't like is that it pretty heavy, so on my tall horse(17 hands) it is kind of hard to get it up there.
Quality: This saddle is made of Herman Oak Grade A leather. It is custom made with all hand tooling. It has some silver plated conchos. My friend has had her Blue Ribbon for several years, rides all the time, but there is little wear, so it holds up great.
Summary: It is the most comfortable saddle I have ever ridden in. It is also very beautiful. It fits my hard to fit horses great too.
