Likes: This one fits my mule and several others I have tried it on and It also fits me well.
It was a pleasure dealing with a gentleman with such honor and integrity as Mike.
His knowledge of what fits and doesn't is amazing.
We played the saddle game - make a cow horse saddle fit a mule etc for over a year, had one saddle built by a reputable outfit in Texas - 16 weeks later it was not what we had ordered. (17.5 ordered - 16 inch built)
The tooling and workmanship on this saddle is far superior to more expensive production line saddles out there.
Mike will do them on Horse Trees Also if asked.
The old saying a good saddle starts from the tree, reflects the craftsmen that built it to satisfy the animal and the rider is true with Breakin Wind Saddle.
Had another friend who he built one for in California, they visited us in Oklahoma and again the saddle was of the highest quality and built to fit a very tiny lady.
We have been so pleased with it, my wife ordered a 15" bear trap tree on Mule Bars that he is custom making for her, Padded Seat and some other extras such as completely Rough Out saddle, extra rings and tooling.
Dislikes: Riding in it does not pay much, if it did I would quit my job and ride in it all day it is that comfortable
Quality: Excellent craftsmanship, super quality leather used and the tooling is super.
Rigging options are not a problem for the producer, mine is 3 ring in skirt rigging.
Did have a chance to see one built by him with 3/4 drop down rigging that was also well built.
There is a mule trainer here close to us that we also seen a Breakin Wind Brear Trap that he hunts out of and uses to work young mule with. The owner said once he's sits in it if they get the "Buckiness" going they cannot get him out of the saddle.
Summary: Was not asked to do this review but felt I had to as there is a lot of misinformation out there when it comes to a quality saddle.
Mike at Breakin Wind will take care of you with old honesty, good workmanship at a fair price.
