Purchase: At the request of our trainer we purchased a Dale Chavez western show saddle, along with matching bridle and breastplate. We purchased this tack at the Morgan Grand Nationals in Oklahoma City, OK- the day before my World Championship class! We paid $4,500 for the saddle-more than what we paid for our first horse! Dale was there and he was really helpful with helping us select our new saddle. He even threw in a couple of baseball caps that he autographed at the request of my dad, who was footing the bill!
Likes: I like everything about this saddle! It's beautiful, dripping with silver and gorgeous tooling. I love how comfortable it is, and how perfectly my legs fall into place on it. My horse doesn't seem to mind it either. In fact, I think it's probably his favorite saddle in his entire wardrobe! When that saddle goes on his back he knows it's showtime!
Dislikes: What's not to like! Well I guess I'd make it lighter weight if it were possible. Of course I'd make all western saddles lighter weight if it were possible!
Quality: The Dale Chavez saddles are the best quality western show saddles I've ever been exposed to. Dale actually took the saddle back after I'd ridden in it, because my trainer had not liked where my legs fell. He measured me and reconstructed the saddle to be an equitation saddle for me- and he didn't even charge us for that!
Summary: When you invest in a Dale Chavez saddle, you're not only getting a beautiful, great quality product, you're getting service and commitment to go along with it. Dale Chavez treats his customers how they want to be treated. He's acquired quite a large customer base at the larger Morgan shows. When you watch the western classes half the fun is checking out the latest Dale Chavez show tack that everyone is sporting!
