Purchase: I purchased the Vtek Marathon midweight turn out from Schneiders for $149. It fits my high withered but very muscular TB very well. The adjustafit provides for adjusting the position of the blanket on the shoulder points. I read a review that the velcro adjustafit did not hold in the adjustable positions and I have had no problem with the velcro staying secure. The blanket is bombproof and has shown not punctures or worn spots even though my horse is always rolling and rubbing on trees etc. The fit is awesome, love the shaped wither and the euro v free fit. The blanket covers well over the shoulders but provides flexibility for the neck to drop to eat off the ground. My horse is out 24/7 in the snow belt of central NY and appears quite happy in the blanket. Midweight has been sufficient for down to 0 degrees and water just rolls right off of the blanket and the tail flap adequately covers about 1 foot down the tail. I bought a Weatherbeeta Orican Freesyle turn out at the same time from country supply for $119 (but got the free heated 5 gallon bucket with it) for an arabian mare. The freestyle fit is really nice and the enclosed tail flap is great for horses that have a hard time keeping warm (older, arthritic). The arab is quite round and the freestyle fits around her belly great but wo9uld'nt be too long on fit horse either. The shoulders are very well fitted and workmanship is outstanding! Despite the great design, the nylon shell is not as waterproof as the Marathon blanket in that some water is absorbed by the nylon shell (doesnt roll off like on the the marathon)and the shell has already shown signs of wear with some small puncture holes and splits in weave. The mare is very easy on her blanket so I am very surprised. If I were to purchase another blanket, I would go with another Sneiders Marathon. The VTEK climate control lining really seems to help regulate interior temps in fluctuating temps 0-40 degrees.
