Purchase: I bought these breeches on sale at Dover Saddlery, online. Since they were on closeout, I only paid $39.90. However, I do believe that they are now back to their regular price, which is $59.90. My reason for buying these breeches were that I was in need of some new breeches to show in (you see, my old pair had been stained in numerous places for numerous reasons, including those which taught me NOT to apply tons of oil to a saddle the night before a show and to steer clear of a horse overcoming colic.) Also, I am a cheap-skate, and I will not usually buy full-seat breeches if they are not on sale, so, when I found these full-seaters for the price which they were at, I thought "God must have really been embarrassed by my old breeches!" Yet still, I was even more amazed when the breeches arrived on my doorstep.
Likes: I really enjoy these breeches for many reasons. For example, they are extremely easy to clean - just turn them inside out and throw them in the wash (and for me, this is a big advantage). Also, the herringbone-patterned seat is quite flexible, allowing for stretch, unlike many other full-seat breeches. I like almost everything about these breeches...
Dislikes: The only thing I don't like about these breeches is the heavy elastic band around the waist. However, the elastic does lose some of its strength after a few rides. Even so, I am picky about tight clothing. I like everything to be loose...
Quality: It is in my opinion, that these breeches were manufactured for those who want a nice pair of breeches that will get them in the show ring and maybe even allow them to be the fashionista of the barn. With that said, these breeches are constructed with comfort and ease in mind. Like I said before, the seat of the breeches is a flexible, and grippy, herringbone pattern. Also, the 93% cotton, 7% Lycra material which makes up the remainder of the breeches, is very soft and stretches right along with your body. In addition to the comfortable material, Dublin has implemented a small zippered pocket to add some flair. Moving upward, the waist area homes a stretchy elastic waistband, which is somewhat restricting. Even so, there are 1" belt loops spaced accordingly along the waistband. Nonetheless, these breeches still have a center zipper, with a hook and clasp closure. Moving downward, there is a Velcro closure at the ankle to allow for an almost custom fit and for ease when pulling field boots on. Overall, these breeches are constructed quite well and are of a high quality.
Summary: I feel that these are exceptional breeches for the price I obtained them at, however, I am not completely sure I would pay full retail price for them (though, I am really very cheap.) In conclusion, I think that one might be very pleased with these breeches, whether they are used for schooling or showing.
