Dressage Saddles
Manufacturer: Amerigo
Model: Vega Monoflap
Category: Dressage Saddles
Purchase: I bought this saddle because I needed a saddle that would have a deep seat, decent size knee rolls and is more professional vs. the one I have been using for over 4 years. I needed a saddle that would put me in the position but would not restrict my or my horse's movements. I had a local saddler fitter come out to fit both my TB's. I paid $2450 plus tax for the saddle.
Likes: I absolutely LOVE this saddle. It's soft, has a nice deep seat and a decent size knee rolls. It doesn't restrict or luck my seat but it does help to put me into a correct position. This saddle seems very correct and VERY well balanced. The best thing about this saddle it fits both my horses like a glove and fits them in a way that they are both moving much more freely under the saddle and my very sensitive mare who gets very crabby if something is wrong with the saddle or the girth seems to like the saddle and enjoys her work more so now with this new saddle. Out of 10 saddles that we have tried this one was a perfect fit for both my TB’s that are build very different.
Dislikes: I don't know if I there is something that I don't like about it. However I can see some people not liking the fact if you lean forward or not sitting in the correct position you may end up on hitting the pommel. I personally don't have this issue but know someone that does. The only person that has had this problem is someones horse makes a drastic stop and that forces her to slide on the top of the pommel. But even that person still loves the saddle.
Quality: The leather on this saddle is simply the best. Very soft and supple. It takes no time to break it in and feel comfortable riding in it. I love the fact that it has one flap (Monoflap) because my paddock boots don't get stock on the flap. The flaps on that saddle are perfect size for someone who is my height (5'1) and even for someone who is taller. My trainer is about 5'7 and she feels very comfortable in this saddle as well. I love the way the deep seat is made and how it molds around you when you ride.
Summary: I think the saddle is worth the money and to be honest even if it cost more than $2450 I would still buy it. There are a lot more expensive saddles on the market that I don't feel are worth pay for. However I would recommend this saddle to anyone who rides Dressage and wants a VERY good saddle that is super quality and enjoyable to ride in. I enjoy riding in this saddle and feel that I have made the right choice. The saddler really had a lot of good things to say about this addle and said he sells a lot of them.
