Purchase: I bought the saddle new from the Ansur Saddle company. It was purchased for my half Arabian gelding who refused to move forward (or sometimes at all!) in a classic treed saddle but would do whatever I asked happily bareback. I paid $2100.00
Likes: I love that every horse I've ridden in the saddle has moved forward happily and comfortably used their back. My horse used to have a very sensitive/sore back that disappeared when I began using the Ansur.
Dislikes: It can be difficult to fit on high withered horses. Proper padding can help with this. Also, it can slip a little from side to side, but I have found several pads that help reduce the movement.
Quality: The saddle is beautifully made. The leather is very high quality and holds up well under a lot of use. I have never had a problem with any of the stitching or the velcro. The velcro for the adjustable knee rolls is excellent quality, my knee rolls have never shifted.
Summary: The Ansur is an excellent saddle. After searching and trying many saddles it was the only solution I found to make my horse comfortable and happy. I have ridden a variety of horses in this saddle and all have been very happy. One horse had appeared lame when ridden in other saddles stretched over her back and "sighed" with relief all through her first time in the Ansur. I think this saddle is a wonderful solution for anyone with chronic saddle issues.
