Trail Saddles
Manufacturer: Crestridge Saddlery
Model: Elite Guffey
Category: Trail Saddles
Purchase: I purchased this saddle by phone, after spending many months looking at their saddles on the website, and looking at many other saddles on other websites. Crestridge saddles just kept rising to the top of my list, based on fit, style and plain good looks. Price was also a factor, and at $1193.00 plus $45.00 for shipping, this saddle was considerably less than comparable saddles.
Likes: I love everything about my saddle! The flare in the front of the bars lets my horses move more freely, and the deep centered seat helps me to stay in position. Not to mention keeping me on top of my horse when the "unexpected happens". I have had 2 violent sideways spooks, and I know if I had been in a different saddle, I would have "bought" some real estate. The sheepskin on this saddle is so thick and beautiful, that was one of the reasons I picked the elite, the other was the supracor padded seat. OH MY GOD! It's like riding on a cloud. There are plenty of rings to tie on anything you might want to bring on the trail. I purchased this saddle to fit my 4YO Missouri foxtrotter stallion, and I recently tried it on his 2YO half-sister. It looks like it will fit her also, once she grows up a little more. I tried it on a 23YO mare, not really thinking it would fit her, (but I love this saddle so much, I don't want to ride in anything else.) Oh Happy Day, it fits her too. Unfortunately I have 3 other horses that are a completely different body type, so I'll be back to saddle shopping. It will definitely be another Crestridge, and with Debra's expert help, I know I'll find the right fit.
Dislikes: Nothing! I honestly can't think of a thing I would change, this saddle is perfect just the way it is. Debra is extremely knowledgeable about saddle fit and directed me to the 2 models she felt would fit my horse, I was a little leery when she said he needed a wide tree. (he's thin chested and looks a little wimpy to me)But she was right.
Quality: This is a very high quality saddle, the leather is beautifully thick and supple, the sheepskin lining is like nothing I've ever seen, so thick and soft. The hardware is stainless and attached securely.
Summary: I love my saddle, if you need a saddle to fit a gaited horse, you owe it to your horse (and yourself) to check out Crestridge Saddles. They also fit non-gaited breeds, and if you take pictures and measurements and send them to Debra, she will guide you to the correct tree style and width for your horse.
