Purchase: At last success!!!. I had previously tried a Bob's Reining Saddle and A Champion, while both assured me a perfect fit, it was not to be. My quarter horse is round, no whither and mutton shoulders....I contacted Mary, after listening to my situation she agreed to personally come out and measure my horse...TWICE. Mary and her team of three went to great lengths to not only let me customize the "look" (Barbed Wire and Roses, Placing my initials,) they made sure my horse and I both had a comfortable fit.
Likes: The finished saddle was more than I could have hoped for, Gorgeous, Unique, and the craftsmanship was outstanding. "Fitting me" she made a nice deep seat and as I am not very tall, proportioned the rest of the saddle to make sure we were a match! She moved back the rigging a bit so that my horse is able to fully extend her shoulder without the cinch pinching her. She used a full quarter tree (which is really a full quarter, most today are not) to keep the saddle from rolling side to side on my horse. For the first time when I dismount, the saddle returns automatically to the upright position. That's a first.
Dislikes: Fortunately, I LOVE everything about the saddle. I wanted functionality, I got it. I wanted a Unique Personalized Great look, I got it. Placing my initials in silver on the back skirt, made it my own. Mary encourages you to design a saddle unique to you. The combination of Barbed Wire and roses is exquisite.
After two unsuccessful fits with Bob's and Champion, I finally feel, not only secure with this saddle, but am also assured that my horse is also having a comfortable ride.
Quality: Hermann Oak Leather is outstanding in quality is . Mary's team of three toolers and a great silversmith are involved. They work with Mary as a team on site so that the entire process is a team effort, not just sending it off to to a number of different "jobbers' with the hope that it all works out. , REAL sheepskin -quality trees, (no plastic)they really are truly handmade. This team takes you back to a place in time of true craftsman who show genuine pride in their work. My silver Overlay (no silver plate)"is just enough, not too much"
Summary: I just could not be happier, after two huge disappointments I was almost afraid to get my hopes up.....I need not have worried, it is Perfect. I recommend people take the time to contact Mary, and work with her team for the saddle of your dreams. I am sorry it is raining today, I can't wait to get back in that saddle!
