Purchase: I purchased these stirrup leathers at State Line Tack for $35. I wanted a low-cost, quality pair of leathers to match my Kincade close-contact saddle, which was my first saddle. I planned to do some low-level showing with this saddle and leathers, but nothing fancy - I mostly planned to school with them.
Likes: I like the way they perfectly match my saddle, and I also like the color. They wear very nicely, and they do lose some of their color, but they still look nice. They haven't stretched very much or at all, the stitching is in good condition, and the buckles are rust-free. I also like the contrast off-white stitching, which adds a nice touch to the workmanship of the leathers.
Dislikes: I would prefer it if the holes were in half-inch increments for finer adjustments. The leather is fairly stiff, especially when it's new, and I have trouble adjusting the stirrups when mounted. They get better with oiling and care, but when they were new, it was hard to adjust the stirrups even from the ground.
Quality: The leathers are constructed with burgundy leather that matches the rest of the Kincade tack very well. They have contrast off-white stitching, which I like the look of. They are double-stitched and durable, so they don't stretch much or at all. The buckles are heavy-duty and so far the leathers have held up very well. I have had them for a year and a half.
Summary: I would recommend these stirrup leathers to someone on a budget who is looking for something to school with, or looking for leathers to match a Kincade saddle. They don't have the traditional hunter color, and they don't allow for finer adjustments like leathers with holes in half-inch increments, but they are durable, quality, and a great value for the price!
