State Line Tack
Solid Mouth Copper & Stainless Steel Roller Bit
English Bridle Acc

Manufacturer: State Line Tack
Model: Solid Mouth Copper & Stainless Steel Roller Bit
Category: English Bridle Acc

Purchase: I bought this bit at State Line Tack for $22. When I bought my Morgan, she was being ridden in a Dr. Bristol snaffle, but she never chewed the bit, and she didn't seem to know how to flex at the poll. After trying out a few harsher bits (a Kimberwicke and a Myler combination hackamore) on my trainer's suggestion, which didn't help my horse, I switched trainers. My new trainer wanted to try a softer bit, because my horse has a soft mouth, and it has worked great!

Likes: My horse goes very nicely in this bit. She has learned to flex at the poll and round up correctly, and she is softer and stretchier in this bit than she was in any other bit I've tried. She has learned to stretch down through her neck, which has improved her muscle tone and made for a much nicer ride. She is more willing to stretch down and take up contact with the bit. She gets really nice in her mouth; she has started chewing the bit and she always foams. I get a lot of compliments on her mouth; she used to have a totally dry mouth. This bit has certainly changed that! My horse moves well in it, and it has lengthened her stride. Other bits I've tried have made her strides short like a pony's, but not this one.

Dislikes: I think it would help if this bit had slots in the rings like some of the more expensive bits on the market. This bit, which doesn't have the slots, pulls straight back on the bars, which does cause resistance sometimes.

Quality: This bit is well made and of great quality. It doesn't squeak constantly like some bits, and I've been told to watch copper bits because they can wear funny and make sharp points, but this bit has not developed any. It has the quality and value I've come to expect from State Line Tack.

Summary: This is an excellent bit for all kinds of riding. It's versatile, the dee-rings look great for show, and it doesn't pinch like some loose-rings and other snaffles. It has improved my horse in many ways. This bit is high-quality and a great buy!
