Purchase: I ordered this pad from Dover Saddlery when I was looking for an inexpensive, quality schooling pad. I paid about $17 for this pad, because it was on sale.
Likes: I like the nice look of this pad's mini diamond quilting. It has Velcro billet straps and girth loops to hold the pad in place. It has soft flannel lining and is a good value for the price.
Dislikes: This is a very thin pad. Everyone has a different opinion about how thick pads should be; some people like very little bulk between the saddle and the horse, and some people layer on three pads before they're satisfied. It depends on the fit of the saddle: the better a saddle fits, the less pad you need (or so some people say). I imagine my saddle doesn't fit my horse quite perfectly, as it is a cheap saddle (Kincade), so I would like a little more padding between the saddle and the horse. This makes a good underpad, though, with a white fleece shaped pad on top. It looks great that way (I have it in burgundy).
Quality: This pad is well-made and high-quality. The stitching is nice and strong, the fabric doesn't tear easily, and it's the kind of pad you can use for schooling and throw it in the wash and not worry about wrecking it.
Summary: I wouldn't use this pad alone on my horse, but it's a great "baby pad" to keep the white pads clean and looking new. This pad is a great bargain; it's perfect for schooling.
