Purchase: I actually purchased these boots when i worked at a tack store for a while, so i got the employee discount and also Ariat's tack store employee discount, so i think I paid $170 for them. They retail new (with no discounts!) for $350.
Likes: I really love these boots! I am unfortunately planning on retiring them soon for an upgrade to a pair of Ariat Crowne Pro Zip field boots, but these Challenges were sure nice! I have had them for 3-4 years and they are awesome... considering how much I've used them, they hold up really well. I school in tall boots every day since I think it's silly to save a pair of boots for shows... i like mine molded to my leg! These boots were completely broken in after 3 days.
Dislikes: Nothing really. The zipper on one of them broke (it just split, you know how zippers do that) after about 3 years which didn't bother me at all, since i use them so much. I unfortunately took them to a mediocre tack repair shop instead of sending them back to Ariat, and the guy repaired them horribly and put flimsy new zippers in, so I've just decided to give up and upgrade to the top Ariat model. These ones had a good life and i got my money's worth out of them!
Quality: Very good! I do not hold the zipper break against them at all. Unfortunately with zipper boots, you will, at some point in time, have to replace the zippers. That's just the way it goes.
Summary: A great boot at a very modest price! I would have bought them even with no discount!
