Purchase: I bought these boots off eBay for $70 as schooling boots. They had only been used twice and hadn't even started to drop yet. I decided since I needed new schooling boots and I liked my field boots for showing, why not?
Likes: The leather is fantastic, it's soft and smooth and when polished very shiny! They break in pretty quickly and look nice for a long time.
Dislikes: I didn't like how tall they were. These are a 7 regular calf and still, they are too tall for me. The leather also molded while they were in a my trunk for a week during April Vacation. They were a bit painful because the leather heel on the sole came out and I had to buy gel inserts. Another thing that bothered me was how a hole was busted in the inside of the foot, where the sole and leather come together, after only about three months of almost daily use. I couldn't get them repaired at a normal shoe repair place because the soles were "molded" meaning that the rubber sole had been built around the leather. I'm going to try and send them to a guy I met once about two years ago that said he would try to put regular soles on them.
Quality: The leather is good quality and it has a classic look to it. The only thing I really didn't like was the molded soles and how quickly they fell apart. The leather stayed together and is still in good shape but the connection between the soles and leather are crappy.
Summary: These boots are good for even their retail price. They are good as show boots or just for the weekend rider. For schooling boots, unless you get the soles replaced, they suck. I still like these boots a lot, which is why I am willing to send them out to get new soles because right now they are collecting dust in my closet.
