Dressage Saddles

For Sale on eBay

Manufacturer: Bates
Model: Isabell Werth
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: Acquired for $1500 NWT on Ebay from German seller. It took about 45 days to get the saddle, so there was a bit of nail-biting, but it was well worth it for the price! I wanted a saddle that would be easy to fit on a variety of horses since I haven't bought mine yet, and I love the versatility of the Bates line. I also like the stirrup bar position and narrow twist, it makes maintaining correct seat so easy.

Likes: Everything... The leather is smooth and grippy. It fits all of the horses I've ridden and they all seem to like it; they move freely, so I am a believer in the CAIR panels. The saddle looks large, but the contact with the horse is excellent because of the narrow twist. It is flattering due to the shape of the panel tapering into the seat, so it makes my leg look slimmer than other saddles (Ah, vanity!).

Dislikes: The surcingle attached to the flaps can be a pain while girthing up the horse because the keepers don't move easily through all of the girth's keepers. This is a very minor issue. Also, this is a very comfortable but structured saddle. I'm sure everyone knows this, but it is not suitable for schooling anything but dressage. Do your two point work in another saddle.

Quality: It is leather, and one of the finest saddles I've ever seen. I am thrilled with the quality.

Summary: If you think you don't like dressage saddles, or that none of them seem to fit you or your horse, try this one. I've converted my trainer and many at my barn into Bates admirers with this saddle.
