Purchase: Bought gently used from an ad in the newspaper. Paid $650.
Likes: I looked up the website at www.ballardssaddles.com before purchasing the saddle from the seller. Was very impressed that the saddles were all handmade and carried a 100% lifetime guarantee. Ballard's also hand makes all their own wooden, rawhide covered trees. When I went to see the saddle I liked the quality of the leather and the uniqueness of the saddle. Nice secure seat and fits my stout horse well. Good long saddle strings for tying on your gear, excellent quality and a comfy ride.
Dislikes: Is a bit heavy, but not overly heavy for a stout roping saddle.
Quality: Excellent handmade saddle. Fits a stout horse well and places the rider in the perfect position. Nice even stitching and tooling. Can't go wrong with a lifetime guarantee to back it up!!
Summary: I had never heard of this saddle maker before finding this particular saddle. After researching this brand and owning one myself, I would recommend to others that they try the ballard's brand. If you can find one!! I have looked for another all over the place and apparently nobody sells them once they own them. Good heavy duty saddle that should last me forever.
