Likes: Has pre-turned stirrups and I have had no knee or ankle discomfort!! Very attractive basket weave tooling that was all hand done. Quality Montana Silver berry conchos. Excellent leather. Close-contact butterfly skirts. As nice as more expensive brands. Built on a Steele brand Equi-fit tree. Has fit all my horses very well.
Dislikes: Everything is excellent. Although I would have to say that due to extra padding the seat runs a tad small if you are used to flatter seats.
Quality: Excellent quality and construction. I had heard that the stirrup leathers on these saddles can run a bit long. So when I ordered the saddle I told the saddle maker how tall I was and they punched custom holes in the leathers for me. Fit perfect right out of the box!! I also had requested a medium oil color that was in between the two colors that the maker offered. So the saddle maker gave the saddle an extra oiling to try to darken it up a bit.
Summary: Continental makes an excellent saddle and is well worth checking out if you are considering purchasing a new saddle. Hard to find a handmade saddle these days that will not break the bank. I now own 2 Continental saddles, this saddle and one I purchased used on Ebay with a rounded skirt. The used saddle was built in 1990 and still looks new. I am keeping both saddles and they will probably never be for sale. Comfiest saddles I know of, both for the rider and for the horse. Judging from the used saddle I bought, the new one should last me a lifetime.
