Purchase: My Thoroughbred mare was injured and had to stay in a stall for two weeks. It was just after a show that was in the rain, and when it rains and she has been jumping high in the slop she will get wind-puffs when left inside. She also had an abscess that was ready to pop and her ankle blew-up from that. Because she couldn't go outside I had to get some bandages. In the mean-time I used my friend’s pair of bandages, the Champion standing wraps. I loved how soft they were and how well made they were. When I went the tack-store they didn’t have any Champion bandages so I got other ones. In two days my horse had rubbed them so bad they started coming apart and unraveling around the edges. My mare puts her bandages to the test and if they aren’t Champion then they won’t last. She stands in her stall and crosses her back legs, rubbing her leg up and down the other leg, spinning the bandages and rubbing them raw. After the set I bought were dead in a week I got online and over-nighted a set of the Champion's to my house. I spent the same amount (not including the shipping), $13, on the Champion bandages as the other set.
Likes: The knitting on the bandages is exceptional and very tights. The material is very soft but stretchy and breathable. The bandages are tough and can stand up to a lot of torture, and are easy to wash without fear of them unraveling.
Dislikes: They need to begin by making more colors, and the shorter bandages need to have the Velcro closer together. I have trouble, because my horse is smaller, I have trouble using up the bandage even when I started at the top. The Velcro’s were too far apart so they didn’t light up, one laid too far overtop of the other. The pony bandages weren’t tall enough so they never could make it up her leg. They just need to make shorter bandages that are just as tall for smaller horses that have short cannon-bones like my horse and many other horses.
Quality: The threading/seams is strong and re-enforced. The thread-count is high and the material is extremely strong but breathable and soft. The edges are finished so the bandages are unlikely to come unraveled.
Summary: The Champion standing bandages and all of the Champion products are well-made and durable, but don’t eat a hole in your pocket like most products. They are just the best you can find.
