Purchase: i bought this saddle for my new qh from state line tack for $499. i bought a wintec because at the time, he pretty much looked like a large barrel, so we went to the wintec line to see if we could find something that would fit him.
Likes: I liked the ability to change the gullet to fit the fluxuation of my horse's weight and the fact that I only had to hose it off to make it look brand new. I also liked the fact that it was pretty scratch resistant, even after my horse decided to roll with it on in the sand!
Dislikes: I didn't feel balanced when riding in it, because I felt that it was throwing me forward. Also, after a while, it started to squeak almost constantly whenever I rode in it. It was also very slick and it was hard to keep a good, strong seat.
Quality: In the 3 years that I had it, it seemed to hold up very well with no scratches or tears. The quality of the gullet changing process was complicated to say the least. It's at least a two person job to get it changed in less than 10 minutes.
Summary: For the beginning rider I think its a very good saddle because of the easy care. When you start going up the ranks it just didn't balance right and you can't concentrate if you 're trying to balance your saddle all the time. That can't be too comfortable for your horse either.
