Purchase: Purchased these through Breeches USA, online, for $59.95. We were searching for everyday riding clothes for my husband, who rides English. He loves his Pytchley 4-pocket breeches, but they're not available anymore. He wanted relaxed fit breeches that didn't look like stretch pants or tights.
Likes: Just about everything. The fabric is great, similar to the Helenca or Punta de Roma, 92% cotton and 8% Lycra. They are truly a relaxed fit, and look like black pants. The inseam is generous, and the bottoms are cut like older Levis - not flared or pegged, just straight. My husband says they are the most comfortable pants he has every worn in his life - and they're great for riding. No inner leg seam, just like breeches. They work well with chaps or half chaps.
Dislikes: They only come in two colors - black or white. And the knee patch is made of the same fabric as the garment - we wish they were leather or suede for grip. They won't fit into fitted tall boots, so you need chaps or half chaps.
Quality: First class. After more than a year, the seams are tight, no pilling, no pulls, no fading. They wash up in the machine just like new. (Regular wash, dry halfway in the dryer.)
Summary: Great for guys who need comfortable riding clothes. Most men's breeches are skin tight and regular jeans don't have enough give. These work well English or Western. My husband loves these, and he's a big guy. Going to and from the barn, they look just like a pair of black pants. I may try a pair myself!
