Purchase: Ordered from Valley Vet for $59.95. I thought that whole non-slip idea seemed good.
Likes: It's well constructed, contours to the horse's back, and it really doesn't slip.
Dislikes: There's something disturbing about having a waffle pattern on your horse's back when you unsaddle. The binding seems a bit abrasive and I fear that it will rub. That backing really roughs up the hair in the shoulder area - I fear it would remove that hair on a long ride.
Quality: Extremely well constructed - it looks like it would last forever. There is a stiff binding all around the edges that makes it look sturdy but may potentially rub. Wear leathers at eithers and girth.
Summary: Nice pad for a horse who can't keep his saddle on. However, for a horse with withers, I'd use something a little less abrasive. I give it a five for quality and non-slip properties, but I only give it a one for being horse friendly.
