Purchase: I found this Alabama based saddlemaker on Ebay while looking for a nice Wade Saddle. I did some research on the company and found that they actually build saddles also for many of the Brand names on this review board. After talking for an hour with Jerry, I felt confident that I had found a company that could build what I wanted. I paid 850.00 plus shipping for the saddle.
Likes: I love the fact that I worked with an American saddle maker that understands saddles. Their makers have been building saddles for 40+ years. I had called several other custom builders and was quoted 2500+ and I had a 3-6 month wait for others. My Riders Choice saddle was built in 3.5 weeks. It was a nice heavy saddle at 45 lbs. The leather was super thick and the workmanship was the best. Jerry told me that the man that built my saddle had Managed Crate Saddle company and had been a manager at Big Horn as well. I really don't see how they can build and sell such a nice saddle for 850 when others are getting thousands..Lets me know someone is overcharging and it's not Riders Choice.
Dislikes: The only thing I don't like about it is that I don't have 2 of them.
Quality: The construction of the unit is the best I have had and I have probably owned 50+ saddles in my 53 years. The leather is American 15oz heavy grade. The Handwork in the saddle is unreal and all in 3.5 weeks..amazing.
Summary: I will never own another saddle that doesn't say Riders Choice on the label. For years I was a brand name Cowboy. I had to have the Billy Cooks or the Circle Y's, but hell the last 4 I have bought haven't fit my horses well. My new Riders Choice Wade is the best investment I have made. I could have sold it to a friend and made 400.00 on it the first trail ride I went on. These people care about the horse, the rider, and their product. They build saddles right and they build them the way you want..you don't have to pick one out of a catalog or off the rack.
