Purchase: I purchased the Crosby Plain Raised bridle online from Statelinetack.com. I paid $180, plus S&H. I wanted a good all-around bridle for all of my hunter activities.
Likes: For the price, I don't believe you can find more supple leather or better quality in general. All buckles and fastenings are of good quality, and the suppleness of the leather makes breaking down the bridle or putting it back together quite hassle-free. I lunch my mare before we jump, so I have to take my reins off and put them back on once a day when I ride. With cheaper bridles, this was quite the chore! Not so with the soft leather of this Crosby piece.
Dislikes: I have no complaints about this bridle, though I wish it was easier to find a pair of replacement reins. I will eventually want a pair of reins for schooling and a pair just for the show ring, but State Line doesn't list Crosby reins separately.
Quality: I also like the durability of this bridle. I had one bad spill over a jump, and my mare stepped on her reins after I fell off. There is small stress-mark on the reins from this big mare's hoof, but the reins took the damage remarkably well. After over year of using this as my primary bridle, I am very pleased with how it is holding up.
Summary: I highly recommend this bridle. At under $200.00, it is a great piece of tack for schooling or the show ring. Daily use does not detract from its simple beauty or classiness.
