Purchase: My young Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse grew a lot in his 5th year - developing a very B-R-O-A-D, short back with 'not-quite-mutton-withers'. I found these wonderful saddles via our gaited horse chat site. I finally opted for the trail model with endurance pommel, round skirt, fenders, and EZ Ride stirrups. Had some custom work added and paid just shy of $800. The company is small, based out of upstate NY, and offers several trees (mostly Steele fabricated) and workmanship by Little Eli Miller.
Likes: Value is phenomenal! Customer service is Above And Beyond! Trees are sent out to you to try on your horse, incredible effort is made to best fit your horse, you, and your personal trail riding style. There are several models to choose from: Endurance Trail, Plantation, Western Trail. Nice tooling options, rigging options, beautiful leather and the comfort is great. I chose the EZ Ride trail stirrups (traditional Western stirrups are also offered, tapaderos, and covered)and am thrilled with them. Very attractive saddle. Best of all, my horse is happy!
Dislikes: Like all new leather, it squeaks at first, but you can muffle that by applying baby powder to where the leather pieces meet.
Quality: As state earlier, very nice leather that has broken in pretty quickly (I have about 10 hours on it). Attention to detail, well-constructed, nicely finished. I can already tell I will spend many happy years riding in this.
Summary: Exceptional value, personalized attention, beautiful, comfortable saddle!
