Likes: We found the waterers to be convenient, in that you don't have to worry about empty troughs or buckets. The water is always there, in ample supply for your horses. Due to the heat, humidity and bugs in south Florida, it is necessary to frequently clean any waterer. It is very simple to disassemble the cover over the float to clean under it. Unlike the review I just read, I did NOT find that the plastic disintegrated AT ALL! We had our waterers under cover, in the barn, so they were out of the sun. This also kept the water cooler for drinking. They were in place for almost nine years at the time we moved, and were in perfect condition. Prior to getting the DuraMates, we had steel waterers, which ultimately corroded and developed sharp edges. We changed to the plastic because I was concerned that the horses would get cut on the steel.
Presentlyn we are using a trough. Since I find I have to clean it as frequently as I did the waterers, and it is a much more troublesome task, we are going to but new DuraMates for our new barn - that's how I found this site to begin with!
Dislikes:
Quality: We found that if you fit the plugs on the bottom of the bucket closer to the front, it's easier to empty the water when you want to clean.
Summary: We're looking to duplicate what we had down south - what more is there to say?
