Dressage Saddles

For Sale on eBay

Manufacturer: Ansur
Model: Classic
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: I purchased the saddle new for about $2300.00 three years ago, having had a lot of trouble fitting my TB horses back in other saddles.

Likes: The saddle gives a very close contact feel, like a souped up bareback pad. It fits most any medium to low withered horse. The quality of leather is like a western saddle, American made leather, which wears well, but does not appeal to a real leather snob. I like the suede seat and knee rolls for great seat security.

Dislikes: When I first purchased the saddle it was high in the crouch, and unpleasant to ride in for long lengths of time. It did break in but that took several months. After using the saddle with out a problem for two years it began to give my horse a serious rub on his withers. I purchased the foam adjuster pads from Ansur which made the front of the saddle much wider to ride and higher in front. This took care of the rubbing problem, but made the saddle unbalanced for me to ride in. I have since sold that horse and have been using it on a young Hanoverian. It is not the best for green spooky horses as it can roll a bit, which is a problem.

Quality: Foam covered with leather construction. No flocking. Using various adjuster pads tends to change the quality of the ride in a negative way, ie. gel pads, cashel cushion..etc.

Summary: A good saddle for a horse with saddle fitting issues, providing the withers is not too high. Average quality leather, that does wear well. Worth a try if other saddles have not worked for your horse.
