Purchase: I got this pad online from the EquiPedic web site. I paid $229 for the pad plus shipping and tax for a total under $250. I do tie down roping and team penning and needed a pad to absorb the impact when I dally the calf.
Likes: I work in law enforcement and was familiar with the construction of the pad since it is very similar to the body armour I wear. I like the fact that the cover is washable and the inserts removable. The foam inserts work great. They absorb all the impact no matter how much pressure is applied and how much the foam compresses under the weight of the calf. The textiles they use to affect temperature and blood definitely work for me in my body armour and they must be working for my horse also. She moves better than she ever has and seems to have much more energy when the saddle and pad are on. I also love those grip strips on top. They keep my saddle from sliding in any direction. Great stuff!
Dislikes: There really isn't anything I don't like about the pad. It was competitive in price to other pads that use styrofoam for shock absorption and certainly better than neoprene.
Quality: The construction and the quality is top notch. This is definitely a pad that is meant to last for a lifetime.
Summary: The best pad I have ever owned. Better than my ProChoice and my Supracor. I would recommend this pad to anyone in a heartbeat.
