Purchase: I bought the Neo-Flex girth from my local tackstore this past week. The girth I used to use is a little too big for my horse now that she's lost the 'winter-weight'. I'm switching most of my tack over to synthetics (much easier to care for then leather) so the Neo-Flex was one of my first choices. I paid around $40 in Cdn funds with taxes.
Likes: The girth is completely synthetic with elastic on one end and roller buckles on both. It is contoured so it fits behind the horses elbows better and is reinforced with nylon throughout.
The roller buckles and elastic make tightening the girth a snap and when doing speed work (ie: cantering or galloping), the elastic will give a little as the horse moves, making breathing and chest expansion easier.
After cantering and trotting for a while, the girth held its place without slipping or bunching on my horse, like some other girths. It is also padded with a waffled neoprene for extra comfort.
Dislikes: Not really a drawback, but since this girth is synthetic it doesn't 'breathe' as much as some other girths so the horse tends to sweat a little more under it.
Quality: Great construction, great quality - roller buckles, elastic at one or both ends (depending on the model). The girth comes in either black or brown to match whatever tack you've got. You can also get a gel-filled model that has more padding for a sensitive horse.
Summary: This is a great product at a good price! Definately comparable to other synthetic girths costing much more. Though I don't think it'll wear out anytime soon, I will be buying the Cavalier Neo-Flex Contoured Synthetic Girth again!
