Purchase: I bought this saddle from Big Dee's Tack Shop for $629.00 online. I needed to get a new dressage saddle for my Quarter Horse/Saddlebred cross, and the seat on the Courbette fits the rider very well.
Likes: I like the fact that the leather has been treated to repel water. When I first rode in the rain, it seemed as if there was a plastic cover on the saddle, it repelled the water so well! The manufacturer told me that I only needed to use a bit of glycerine soap to clean the saddle, but I went ahead and put Bick 4 leather conditioner on it. This only improved the suppleness of the leather! The saddle also comes with a neat keychain and a catalog of all of the Courbette saddles and accessories. The dye on the saddle does not fade, even with months of use in the rain. I have had this saddle for six months, and it still looks brand new! All of the stitching is perfect, and the panels are well-stuffed. The gullet is slightly cut-back for a better fit on higher-withered horses. Small knee rolls help the rider hold his or her position.
Dislikes: The seat on this saddle tips the rider's pelvis a little far forward, putting more pressure on the rider's crotch. As long as you ride a horse who needs a driving seat, this will not affect you.
Quality: The saddle is very well put together, with the panel stuffing entirely enclosed and all of the stitches even and strong. The saddle comes without needing oiling as it is waterproof. Only high-quality leather is used.
Summary: The reason I have qualms with the seat is because I am a six foot tall rider who needs a 17" seat, and so there is no saddle in which my legs and seat can be in the correct position at the same time.
