Circle Y
Team Penner (2006 Model)
Reining Saddles

Manufacturer: Circle Y
Model: Team Penner (2006 Model)
Category: Reining Saddles

Purchase: I ordered this saddle new. Retail on the saddle was $1895 but I got it on sale for $1595 from an online dealer. Was available in a regular or a wide tree and I ordered the regular. Fit my QH, My Appy and my Paint.

Likes: This model has the Circle Y softee fenders and jockey. This makes the fenders feel like they are already broken in and the rider has less knee and ankle pain. The skirts are butterfly contoured for close contact, the seat is smooth and padded( I've grown to dislike suede even if it does "grip" better, it wears out fast) In-skirt rigging for less bulk under the knee, pretty floral tooling(jockey and fenders are smooth with a border tool) with rawhide trimmed cantle and rawhide stirrups. Decent silver plated conchos. Came with heavy duty rear cinch. This model is meant for Team penning but would suffice as a reining or even cutting saddle.

Dislikes: Since this saddle is brand new, it squeaks an awful lot!! Had to switch out the nylon latigo for a leather one but only because I prefer them. Other than that, this saddle is excellent!!

Quality: Circle Y has maintained a good quality level over the years and this saddle is very well made. Excellent tooling, even and perfect stitching, quality materials and attention to detail. I constantly sell and upgrade my saddles because good tack is a passion of mine. I have seen that some Saddle makers that have been building saddles for many years have gone down hill in the quality department. Circle Y is not one of these saddle makers.

Summary: I bought this saddle as a good all around saddle for when I wanted to Team Pen, reining or just pleasure riding. The saddle is comfy and well made and I plan to keep it forever. Circle Y has a good quality product and they really do keep the horse and rider in mind when building saddles. This particular saddle incorporates many new concepts in saddle making such as a biothane cinch connector strap, the softee leather fenders and the contoured skirts. A very attractive and functional saddle that will last a very long time and did not break the bank. I recommend this saddle to anyone.
