Purchase: $59.99 from the Clinton Anderson website. Saw the halter and lead at a tour and liked the extra knots and stiffness of the halter.
Likes: The halter is stiffer than other rope halters. With the extra stiffness and the extra knots on the nose, the horse feels the pressure more. The 14 foot length of the lead rope allows us to work our horses and stay a safe distance from their feet. It works well with a 2 year old filly that sometimes gets a little playful.
Dislikes: It's a little harder to tie that other rope halters because of the stiffness. The snap on the lead rope sometimes gets sand in it and is hard to twist.
Quality: The halter is made of a stiffer-than-normal full bodied rope. It has 2 extra knots across the noseband which works on pressure points on the horse's nose. It comes only in black which is good for not showing dirt. The lead rope is 14 feet long with twist snap.
Summary: I love working with this rope halter and lead. I have several others and this is the only one that my horses really respond to. I have a 2 year old filly that easily lunges on a lead line and respects the knots on the noseband. My daughter has an older western pleasure show horse that sometimes takes a little work on stopping while practicing showmanship. I put this halter on him and it only took one time pressing against those knots to make him stop instantly from then on. My daughter has a 15 year old gelding that is extremely buddy sour. With a regular halter, he will jerk away easily and run back to the other horses. With this rope halter, we have the extra pressure on his nose to discourage the pulling. With the extra length of the lead rope, we have extra leverage to stop him from jerking away. He's such a big, strong horse that we have to just let go with a shorter lead rope.
