Wintec
500 AP spring tree, cair, changeable gullet
All Purpose Saddles
Manufacturer: Wintec
Model: 500 AP spring tree, cair, changeable gullet
Category: All Purpose Saddles
Purchase: Ebay auction of $430 which included shipping. The seller was amazing and the communication was great. The saddle was mildly used, only about 3 hours worth, and came with the changeable gullet system. No fittings.
Likes: OH MY GOODNESS what don't I like? The changeable gullet option is amazing and I found it very easy to change out the sizes unlike what some of the other reviews stated on this site. Just four little screws and voila! All was well with the world. The fit to my horse is wonderful and I have found that he loves the saddle as well since his stride has lengthened, he has become more willing to do what is asked of him, and he is actually bouncier! He seems happy to have it on. I love it for the grippy leather like material which keeps me glued to the seat. I hate the feeling of slipping out of the saddle and this eliminates that feel. The seat is much different than what I have ridden with in the past and I find it causes me to be less sore after a long ride. The adjustable knee blocks were interesting to say the least, but it was nice to be able to put them where I wanted them. Even the billets are great and not made of the material from back in the day when I first road in a Wintec. I love this saddle.
Dislikes: The movable knee blocks seem a little flimsy and are a bit too stiff for where they go. But so far they feel fine.
Quality: One of the better looking saddles I have ever ridden in, both leather and synthetic. There is a lot to be said about a saddle one can just hose off in the yard. The stitching is tight, the hardware is of high quality, and the way the saddle is put together is impressive. I especially like the idea of the changeable system. I had my doubts, but it seems to work great!
Summary: Overall I love this saddle. So much so that my riding partners are getting sick of listening to me every time we go for a ride. Most of all, I love the fit to my Clydesdale cross. I feel secure in the saddle and he has loosened up a lot, becoming more responsive to me.
