Purchase: I paid about $80 for these Beval leathers at my local tack store. I went shopping all over tack stores to find really good quality... Courbette leathers were what I used previously and they were fine for hacking around, but I wanted something that was really flexible, comfortable under the buckle flap of the saddle, and nice looking for the show ring.
Likes: Flexible, soft, supple, comfortable, and hardy! Not to mention superb quality. They match my dark havana saddle great.
Dislikes: The price was somewhat out of my range, but I found that the price represents the excellent quality! They are worth every penny.
Quality: I was worried that the softness of the leather would scratch easily and become unsightly. I took a chance because I really liked them and to my surprise- the leather withstands scratching. Even after moving the stirrups around and scraping the leathers, the leather looks great! The buckles have an extended steel cover over the leather part to discourage bulk under the leg and they really do work. Also, with cheaper leather, the leather tends to crack after hard use and drying and bending...not Beval leathers! No cracking whatsoever b/c of the suppleness of the leather.
Summary: Cough up a little extra money for these leathers- you will be happy with the quality and will not be back to buy another pair for a long time!
