Purchase: I bought this bridle online from TackWholesale.com. Price is $59.00. I wanted a bridle I could trail ride with and be able to remove my horses bit so he could enjoy some relaxing grazing time.
Likes: I was pleasantly surprised with this bridle when it arrived. It is prettier than most halter/bridle combos available. The black leather with solid brass fittings and baby blue rhinestone browband are very attractive on my horse (a gray), I get compliments every time he wears it. It is great for unclipping the bit and letting him graze after or during a ride. I added rein snaps to the reins and use them as a lead shank by clipping them to the halter after I drop the bit. This way I don't have to carry a lead with me to graze on the trail.
Dislikes: The cheek pieces are too long for the bridle. Even at the shortest hole, the bit drooped too low in his mouth. I am handy with a leather hole punch and a blade to cut and shorten the leather but I'm sure many people will wind up having to visit a saddler to make the adjustments to improve fit. Otherwise, I have no problems with this tack.
Quality: It is made from good quality leather and it's a better grade than the usual imported stuff. I lotioned the leather as soon as I got it and after about two rides it has begun to really soften. It holds it's color after cleaning and doesn't bleed dye onto the horse, even after he sweats a lot.
Summary: Very nice to find a beautiful piece of equipment that is well-made and really useful! (I know 2 people who bought one for their horse after seeing mine!)
