Purchase: I got these breeches for my birthday with the intent on using them for shows. My boyfriend got them for me, and I think he paid around $89 Cdn for them (they're usually a bit more).
Elation is a new line that Greenhawk stores sell.. they're supposed to be great products. They make breeches (regular, fullseats, jods) and show jackets.
Likes: The breeches look great. They come in tons of different colours... I picked the beige ones as they're most appropriate for the english classes in which I show.
They've got a zippered fly with a hook at the top, instead of a button which could break easily.
The velcro leg closures at the bottom are a nice touch.
Dislikes: They only come in one leg length, which happens to be better suited to tall people. I'm 5'2" and I need to roll the breeches up a little before I secure the velcro closures so they fit properly.. otherwise they're too long.
I've worn the breeches twice, and washed them twice... the area of the breeches that makes contact with the saddle is pilling already, and the sueded knee patches are pilling as well. I just noticed it when I was putting the breeches away til the next show and am very disappointed.
I also own a pair of Miller's breeches (I bought them gently used, years ago) and they haven't pilled at all.. the material is probably as smooth as the day they were made.
Quality: The fabric (the main breech fabric, and the knee patches) could be better quality. I can't believe it's already deteriorating...
Other then that, the stitching is all nice and tight.. nothing's uneven, and the zipper & hook seems to be good quality, as well as the velcro.
Summary: I thought that this would be a great product and was really looking forward to buying more Elation gear (one of their show jackets), but now I'm really doubting it.
I'd hate to spend that kind of money on a product that will most likely fall apart before it should.
In summary: Elated? Nope. Disappointed? Yep!
