Purchase: As a saddleseat rider for twelve years, I never really understood why you would need half chaps. (When riding saddleseat you are not supposed to have constant contact with your calves on the horse.) Then I began to learn how to jump and it really became clear. I was not sure if I was going to show or not so my instructor suggested that I just buy a pair of half chaps instead of shelling out a couple hundred bucks for tall boots. I bought mine at my local tack shop. I got an unbelievable deal! I paid $75 for them...they sell in Dover for $130.
Likes: Ariat's half chaps come in tons of sizes, including TALL, which I need. These look almost like tall boots when they are on so I think you could almost get away with just wearing these at a small show. They are comfy and the leather is supple and soft. Zipper is tough too. Clean off real easy...I've hosed them off and they are still fine.
Dislikes: Nothing at all.
Quality: Very durable, nice leather, tough zipper. Everything is fine, I would recommend them to anyone.
Summary: I would definitely buy these again. They are a great alternative to tall boots and now that I have a pair of show boots I still wear them to lessons and around the barn.
