Purchase: A friend recommended and loaned me her pad to try, and it worked very well. I purchased one for $175 and have been using it ever since.
Likes: I like this pad because of the felt material, its contoured shape, and the therapeutic benefit to the horse's back. It is thickest directly underneath the saddle and thins at the bottom edge. Other pads I've seen are a uniform thickness, which makes it hard to apply leg aids and feel the horse's flank. This one allows me to have this feel. Also the manufacturer offers a lifetime guaranty on the pad construction and the therapeutic benefit gotten from the pad.
Dislikes: It seems expensive for what you get, but I reckon the specialized cut of the felt material warrants the price.
Quality: I've had my pad for over a year, and it still looks like brand new even with daily use. This is probably due to it being used over a saddle pad rather than under the pad as the manufacturer recommends.
Summary: I use my pad for both schooling and showing, and I could definitely tell a difference when I started using it. This is the only pad my saddle fitter actually likes because of its cut and therapeutic value.
