Purchase: I borrowed this helmet from a friend during a couple of horse shows and really liked the way it fit and the awesome look of a GPA. I went out looking for an IRH in the ATH style and could not find one that fit my head. So my friend was growing out of the helmet, had never fallen in it and sold it to me for $75. Brand new the style I got from her costs $137 at Dover.
Likes: I love the design, quality, and price of this "Affordable GPA". Now to tell WHY this helmet is the one you want to buy: Last Sunday at a jumper show, I was riding my thoroughbred, in our jump course and because the arena was one with half a fence instead of a proper one with a 5 ft fence and no gate, my horse decided to jump out and I rolled off hit my head hard on the ground. I was taken to the ER felt okay and was determined okay. But the helmet had not 1 dent or crack in it.
Dislikes: This is a great helmet, only unfortunately, was made in an older style. I cannot purchase an IRH ATH in the same shape, so I am waiting for them to make it again. If you find a shape in the ATH, that fits you, by all means purchase a few and not just one IF your heads done growing.
Quality: This helmet is black micro suede with a clear, silver, black, or gunmetal vent down the front center. It sports a couple little vents in the back and a nice harness to hold it on your head and keep your hair out of your face. A newer ATH can now be bought with navy microsuede.
Summary: This helmet is wonderful, hit my head hard and still no cracks or dents, this is a very safe helmet, great style, great quality, and affordable. For your own safety, wear a helmet every time you ride, all the time, and let it be this one!
