Purchase: I purchased this saddle used from www.equine.com, for $625, which turned out to be a wonderful bargain. I always have loved the corsby saddles, and finally I found one within my budget.
Likes: I love the look of this saddle. The Olde Havana Brown color is simply gorgeous, and perfect for the show ring. The air padded flaps are extremely comfortable and durable. The leather is unbelieveably soft and comfortable. This was an awesome jumping saddle!
Dislikes: This saddle puts you in a jumping position to a fault. It was hard for me to stay tall when I would warm up with flatwork. It pushed me forward a bit too much. Also, I'm not sure if this was due to previous lack of care (which I doubt, since the saddle was extremely soft and well oiled), the flaps seemed to wear excessively. They leather was pretty beat uo under the stirrup leathers. Same goes for the billets. The stitching on the billets as well was loose and needed to be replaced after a while. The medium tree also did not fit my horse well at all. It seemed much to narrow to be medium.
Quality: The quality of the leather was very nice, except for the flaps and billets. The seat, padded area of falps, and underside stayed perfect. The billet's stitching was not as secure as desired, and the flaps weared much too easily. Other than that, it's the typical Crosby uality: amaxing!
Summary: This saddle is absolutely gorgeous and the most comfortable ever. i would not recommend it to anyone interested in hacking or as an eventing saddle (it'd be ok for x-country and stadium, but NOT for dressage), because it puts you much too forward. Also, make sure to take special care of the flaps and billets, as they wear easily. keep in mind as well the tree seems to run a little small. I want to give this item a 3.5, but that's not an option!
