Quietex
Calming Paste
Horse Health and Well Being

Manufacturer: Quietex
Model: Calming Paste
Category: Horse Health and Well Being

Purchase: Purchased a tube from State Line Tack for a little over $8.00. My Thoroughbred tends to get a case of "stage fright" once we get into the ring to actually COMPETE(we compete in 3-Day Events/Combined Training) and I was looking for something that would just take the edge off of my horse's stage fright.

Likes: It worked the first time I used it really well. My horse was super calm and super easy, but still attentive to my MANY aids in our Dressage tests. I was very pleased that it worked considerably well and had a noticeable effect on my horse's dressage performance. Unlike using an intramuscular injection of ACE from the vet, which TOTALLY knocked my horse out to the point of being sluggish, this allowed him to perform at his peak without having that drugged, sedative effect on him.

Dislikes: The tube is small, and on one occasion, my horse bit the end of the tube and bent the tip, so I had to cut the tip of the tube off to orally inject the paste. I do believe how you administer the Quietex has a HUGE effect on the results you receive. The first time (the time I got the best results) I used Quietex, it was given to my horse on a fairly empty stomach. He only ate a little amount of hay as our dressage show was only about 5-10 minutes away. The Quietex went right to work right away, well within the two hours. However, the second time I used it at a 3-day Event, I administered it right before feeding him 2 1/2 hours before I rode. I was upset to find him with his bad case of "stage fright" all over again. 4 hours later when we did our Show Jumping, he was excellent and perfectly calm and was expressing the same effects we received upon my first use of Quietex. I know now to get a full effect, it MUST be used on a fairly empty to totally empty stomach or you won't see results for hours, if you see any because feed masks the product in a way.

Quality: Is available in a powder, daily-use form and a paste form, which is most convenient for showing & traveling use. The tube is small, white, with blue Quietex Logo ( as is the box it comes in with complete directions for administering the paste) and decorative cartoon horses on the box. The paste is a clear, gel-like formula.

Summary: When used correctly, you get wonderful results. When not used correctly, you are lucky to see any at all. The paste is "inconclusive" in the manner that you cannot rely on it %100 to work. But when it does, It works wonderfully.
