Purchase: Purchased in summer of 1999 while I was working at Libertyville Tack shop in IL. Bought with my workers discount, but they were still nearly $300.
Likes: I love these boots. I am shorter, with a wide calf, but a smaller foot, and boots off the rack are VERY hard to find. These were a bit loose in the ankle when purchased, and now fit great. The leather is holding up very, very well after nearly seven years. I am kind to them, and rarely wear them outside of showing, but even that puts a good deal of wear. The leather is soft, but still holds it's shape.
Great grip on the sole... after nearly 7 years, the tread is still there.
Dislikes: The ankle still is a little loose (though I think this may be more from having to purchase a larger size to fit my calf). The foot is just a little flat... not quite enough padding, especially when you're used to wearing ariat paddock boots.
Quality: The foot leather is a tougher quality than the calf leather, and this lets it be softer in the calf, but take a lot of beating in the foot area. Quality is great.
Summary: Love these boots, and if Effingham were still making them, I'd buy another pair. If you see these on Ebay or somewhere, get them, since you know now they'll last nearly forever.
