Purchase: I've always bought this directly from Springtime but I know more places carry
it as well. I think it was about $100 for the 25 pound bucket I have. 25 pounds will last over a year for one horse.
Likes: It's a natural remedy and it helps to repel flies like no other. It takes a few weeks to work into the horse's system so you need to be patient. You can tell once it's in their system because you can smell the garlic on the horse as you walk up to them. It's not a miracle worker and does not repel 100% of the flies, but it sure does help. It has cut the flies in my barn by about HALF! And when the horse's feed "leaves their bodies" it still has a garlic smell therefore it cuts don't on the flies in the pasture too.
Dislikes: It took a while for my horses to get used to the garlic powder in their feed. And they do smell like Italian Restaurants. But that's better than smelling like
manure I guess.
Quality: Not Applicable... this is a powder that is sprinkled over the horses feed. This makes it easy and convenient to use.
Summary: I was given the recommendation for Bug Off from a local race horse owner. He gives it to all of his horses and told me it was great. Unlike sprays, it does not wear off and cannot be washed away. The garlic is in the horses system.
