Purchase: I ordered this mask online from Horse Health USA. I paid $29.95 for the fly mask plus S&H. I bought this mask to be able to ride my horse in my riding ring without the deer and face flies bothering our workout.

Likes: This mask has been wonderful for the purpose that I purchased it and that is to be able to ride in my riding ring without face and deer flies attacking my horse's head and ears. I like the way this mask covers the entire front area of the horse's head going over the nostrils. There is a hole at the forelock area where you can pull the forelock out from under the mask to avoid damage. The covered ears keep biting flies and worrisome gnats from getting on or in the ears. The area around the eyes is designed to keep the mesh from touching the horse.

Dislikes: I'm not too happy with the color - black material with black mesh. The black seems to actually attract the flies. The Crusader mask made for pasture use is made with grey mesh instead of black mesh and the photos for the Quiet Ride looked like it would be grey mesh as well. It is a very attractive mask tho. I also think that the mask could be improved upon by giving more coverage in the jowl area. The pasture mask covers more of the jowl area but the Quiet Ride leaves a lot of unprotected area. That's the main area that I still have deer flies attack.

Quality: The Quiet Ride is very soft and pliable. It's very easy to put on and take off the horse. The quality of the material and the workmanship is very impressive.

Summary: The mask has given me back my riding ring. Before I purchased this mask, my horse spent most of our working ride shaking and tossing his head or trying to put his head between his legs. I saw this mask on a horse in the pasture and ordered one that night. I'd give this mask a 5 rating except for the color and the area of unprotection in the jowl area.
