Purchase: I bought them online at John Lyons.com. I paid $42.99 plus shipping. I wanted a single rein to be more coordinated in learning to ride.
Likes: They are very well made and attractive. A lot easier for me to use than split reins. I borrowed my sister's nylon reins and didn't like them because they were so thin. The John Lyons reins are thick and heavy and easy to control.
Dislikes: I don't like how heavy they are, I don't think my horse appreciates their weight either. I also don't like how they attach to the bit. You have to use a screwdriver and the buckle is a pain. It's like changing a bit but worse every time I have to take them off. The rein also tend to get tangled in the slobber strap thing at the ends.
Quality: The quality is very nice. They have leather slobber straps and nice looking buckles. The rein itself hasn't worn or faded in the 6 months of daily use they have received. I bought The black and they are very easy to clean.
Summary: Overall I like the reins. I don't think that they are worth the amount of money I paid but I will never go back to split reins after using these. There are some improvements that could be made.
