Purchase: I bought this saddle off Ebay for $736.00 shipping included. I heard Circle Y were excellent saddles and a review here on horsetackreview.com said that even for economy saddles, circle y was great.
Likes: I love this saddle. At first I was a little worried because some Circle y's sit smaller than the advertised seat size. This saddle has a 13" swell with a 4" cantle and fits like a dream. The seat is surprisingly comfy and the stirrups hang correctly under me. I like the light oil, roughout and black suede seat - it's very attractive and classy looking. It's a little larger for my horse than the American Saddlery Ekto One that I had (6 3/4 gullet for Circly and 6 1/4 for the Ekto)But she seems very comfortable. It has a special Effx Tree and lighter sheepskin on the underside which is supposed to form fit her better when she fills out. It's also super light. It comes with a nice warranty too.
Dislikes: I don't like how cheap the braided horn looks. It wasn't braided very tight so there are holes between a lot of the strips of rawhide. This is an economy saddle so there is less silver than their "Premium Economy" saddles. The stirrups are nylon under the roughout fenders which was not disclosed to me before I bought it. The rigging rubs my knee and gets uncomfortable after a while, next time I am going for the dropped rigging.
Quality: Some parts like the leather, seat, buckles, cantle, and tree are very well done. Since this is an economy saddle I think they skimped out on some of their usual top notch craftsmanship. The rawhide on the horn sucks, the nylon stirrups were a not so nice surprise, and the conchos look cheap. But like I said it's economy so you definitely get what you pay for.
Summary: I love this saddle for the price range I could afford. I love the Circl Y brand compared to all the other saddles I tried out. I know this should last for a long time.
