Purchase: I emailed Dixieland saddles and they told me about this saddle which was just traded in on a different model. It had only been used for a trial period. I paid $595, a savings of $200 off the new price. It had the gaited horse tree (by Steele) that I had been looking for and was the size I needed. It was a light reddish brown color with a dark brown seat.
Likes: The saddle is beautiful! It works well on our gaited horses. Being an endurance model with the nice, rounded skirts, it's not as heavy as many all-leather saddles...about 27-28 lbs. It also has the extra padded seat that's nice on long rides. It is a very comfortable saddle that will surely last a lifetime.
Dislikes: The only complaint is...one of the silver conchos doesn't lay perfectly flat.
Quality: It is very well constructed of nice soft Wicket & Craig leather. It didn't squeak near as loud as other brand-new saddles we've had. The stitching is all very good and it's a well balanced, solid saddle.
Summary: The only thing I would change about this saddle is the color. Black would look better on a couple of our horses! I would definitely look to Dixieland Gaited Saddles for future purchases.
