Jumping Saddles

Manufacturer: Duett
Model: Foxhunter
Category: Jumping Saddles

Purchase: Duett makes SUPER wide trees for super wide horses with tabletop type backs. I have searched for years for a jumping saddle wide enough for my draftcross. This is my second Duett saddle. It is actually a combination of the Foxhunter and Companion. I paid $1150. I needed a 41cm tree which was custom and they did a special billet system. Due to my horses super wide size, we opted for the longer tree that the Companion is built on, but the seat and flaps of the Foxhunter model. It looks just like a foxhunter except has the rear end of the Companion.

Likes: I like the long Y or V billet system, its actually the billet system that is on their Fidelio dressage saddle. A straight billet that is set at an angle, and then a V billet behind that. This system really keeps the saddle secure and prevents it from moving. They are long billets and you need a dressage girth. This saddle is extremely comfortable and I find it works very well for galloping up and down hills and uneven ground. I can jump anything I want in the saddle. This saddle keeps your leg in a very good, balanced position. I didn't find the saddle too deep or too flat, but just right for what I needed to do. The knee blocks are removable and they come with covers to protect the velcro.

Dislikes: I really don't have any things that I don't like about the saddle, but I have found that billet system is rubbing the underside of the top flap pretty good and I'm hoping it doesn't continue and cause any damage. This type of system doesn't come with a billet guard, so I MAY come up with a guard that may help this small issue

Quality: Construction is excellent, and the quality seems top rate. The leather is nice and breaks in easily. I bought the traditional havana color and its a nice shade of havana.

Summary: For those of us with super wide horses, the Duett is the ONLY saddle on the market that will properly fit your horse. Good quality saddle , in several different models and in tree sizes from 32cm to 42cm.
