Purchase: I got these half chaps on Ebay from the Tradition's Equestrian store for about $37 including shipping and handling. I got theses because my stirrup leathers were rubbing my legs raw. You can also get them at You can also see a picture of them at that web site.

Likes: These half chaps make my paddock boots look like tall boots. The color matches perfectly with my paddock boots. The elastic on the back makes them form fitting and look like they were custom made. They're really comfortable and the leather was soft and flexible for being brand new. They solved my stirrup leather's rubbing problem with my first time wearing them. These were my first pair of half chaps ever and I love them a lot.

Dislikes: The only thing I don't like about them is that they rub a little on the back of my knee because I'm very short.

Quality: They are made of smooth and supple black leather. The zipper up the back is YKK which is surprising for the cost. The elastic is very stretchy. The stitching is excellent and very sturdy. I can't believe how good the color matches with my boots.

Summary: I love these and if I needed to replace them I would buy another pair. Over all they are extremely well made. The price was really good for real leather half chaps (because most I've seen that are identical to mine are $70 and up). If they had a 1/2 an inch shorter height with a 12 1/2 inch calf they would fit better on the height issue but the rubbing is bearable. Any one looking for affordable smooth leather half chaps that look like tall boots has to buy these or else they're wasting their money.
