Purchase: I bought this last year (October 2003) from State Line Tack. I think it was $895.
Likes: The Collegiate saddles are very comfortable. I had ridden in a friend's before buying this to test out. Mine broke it rather quickly. The leather is soft and supple.
Dislikes: The color. It's a chestnut kind of and I have had no luck in finding a bridle that matches. Also, my horse is chestnut so I would have preferred a darker saddle so he didn't look like a red blob.
Quality: I think Miller's made Collegiate in the past and WeatherBeeta may make them now. They are a quality made saddle. I don't expect it to last forever, just a few years.
Summary: This was the first new saddle I have ever had. I've always bought used so I was pleased with finding a nice saddle for a good price. I would consider it a wonderful starter saddle. Plus, it's comfortable for jumping.
