Purchase: I bought this halter online from Dover for $19.90, plus about $5 shipping, which I felt was reasonable.
Likes: It's a fun color (I got the purple plaid), it's softly padded, and is very tough. Also, the leather breakaway definitely will break if put under pressure, so it's safe for turn-out. Our horses aren't left out for long periods of time, but it's still nice to know that the horse won't get caught up on something. The chin is easily adjustable (I normally don't like buckle chins because they can be a real pain!), and the snap throat is a godsend (although I won't buy a halter *without* a snap throat). The full size picks up right where the cob size leaves off, so you'll have a hard time finding a horse this halter won't fit!
Dislikes: The screw holding the leather fuse isn't always on tight--I've had this halter fall off before because of it. But it's easily remedied--just hold one end of the screw with a pair of pliers, and use a screwdriver to tighten it. Also, if your horse likes to play halter tag, the padding on the nose may tear. The snap at the throat does seem to be a little soft, as one halter had the snap completely bend out of shape.
Quality: On the whole, great quality. Not a stitch loose, no frayed edges, nothing. The only real "problem" is that the padding can tear.
Summary: Really a great halter, I'm very happy with my purchase. I would happily buy another one.
